The Program's History
The Lyles MS Lumberjack Band has been in existence since the opening of Lyles MS in the fall of 1987. Under the direction of Mr. Terry Hager, the LLB was consistently awarded Superior ratings in performance from numerous festivals and organizations including Sandy Lake and Festival on the Lake. Furthermore, the Lyles Middle School Band was a perennial recipient of the UIL Sweepstakes Award for superior performance in the Concert and Sightreading contest. Band students have earned membership in the Garland ISD MS All-City Band as well as the MS All-Region Band and have received numerous awards in the GISD Solo and Ensemble competition.
Under the leadership of Cheryl Hopkins, John Vanhook and Kelly Taylor in recent years the band has continued its tradition of excellence.

Currently under the direction of Cameron Green the LLB currently boasts a student membership of approximately 170. Having earned a sweepstakes in 2015 for superior performance on stage and in sightreading, superior ratings at both the Poteet Pre-UIL and NRH20 Music Festivals, the legacy of excellence continues to drive the program's success and dedication to the students, their families and the community.
